I’m nervous about my prenatal visits?

I picked a clinic that is supposed to have the best of the best care but I am really nervous. What should I do? How did you handle having your blood drawn? Quench you fists to not feel the pain, listen to music to soothe you…? I have tried to self-manage my General Anxiety Disorder.

Especially, if you are a more mature new mum, being part of the strong, modern trend of having kids later in life.

New mums, at any age, are often overwhelmed with their changed body shape and extra baby weight. According to fitness expert Angela Houseman, the average woman should not use celebrities as role models. “It’s inevitable that women will envy superstars who go from being 9 months pregnant to a size 6 overnight,” said Ms Houseman.

What do you think our mental/prenatal health systems could do to protect babies of mothers with mental health issues? If you search “mom kills baby” a hundred diffrent stories come up…. how many babies have to die these gruesome, horrible deaths before some laws are in place to protect them?

I think that babies shouldn’t be sent home with “sick” mothers… the mothers have to stay in a supervised atmosphere or an institution in order to be with her baby/babies. that way she’s under supervision, her baby is protected, and mom gets the help/medication she needs until she shows PROOF that she’s well.
