Does caffeine or chocolate harm an unborn baby?
I will find out if I am pregnant in 3 days (10 days past possible conception) and since my husband and I are trying to get pregnant, even if I am not pregnant, I would like to do the best thing(s) for my unborn baby or “unborn” baby-to-be. Should I quit drinking coffee? – I know caffeine is a drug and chocolate just “seems” wrong.. I am doing everything else right – (I HOPE) – I take prenatal vitamins, folic acid, calcium enriched with vitamin D, and since through genetics I am anemic I take iron supplements (ferrous gluconate) I do have tourettes syndrome and high anxiety – and have months ago weened myself off of ALL psychiatric drugs – against doctor’s orders – just to have a healthy baby. Saying that, I would also like to know if it’s okay to take niacin during pregnancy, and if so how much could I take? (I read it helps with tourettes “tics”.) If not, I’ll stay clear of that, too.. We just want a happy healthy baby and my husband and I believe we will do our best to be good parents

ask dr about the niacin im not sure but a lot of caffeine is bad. BUT if you already are addicted to caffeine like me they say its worse to stop. just cut it back to no more than 2 cups a day. i have just 1 soda. keeps the headaches away and im not a b*. so just cut it back and chocolate is my best friend. just try not to over-do it either. just be smart about it and ull be fine.
You don’t have to give up caffeine all together, but you do have to limit your amount. The reason is that research shows a link between caffeine consumption and miscarriage. Most doctors will recommend that you stop completely, but they will also say that it’s ok to have one caffeinated beverage per day. Or to eat a bit of chocolate. I’m much more of the chocolate addict than caffeine, so I gave it up completely, but I still eat some chocolate a couple times per week.
yes it has link with miscarriage
i read that 2 cups of instant and 1 cup of normal coffe is ok
i agree with first response that it s hard to quit coffe if we are addicted nd it may lead to headache if we try
good luck
