My Dr. is making me get tested for Thyroid. Is there any natural things I can take for this besides perscript
drugs? I really don’t want to put any “drugs” in my system. If there’s a natural way, I’d rather do that. She also suggested that I start taking PreNatal vitamins? I have to go get blood drawn next week to see if I have this…even though I don’t know much about it?
I do have symptoms she said like fatigue, depression (occasionally), weight gain (only a few pounds though), I’m always cold, etc. and I think my grandmother has it too??
Any ideas? Thanks.

My mother was hypothyroidic. She made all her four children learn a hata yoga posture (Sarvanga asana), which is specific for this. I have been doing this now for more than 60 years. None of us got any thyroid problem.
This posture is easy to do once one gets the hang of it. I learnt it when I was seven.
See this: http://www.santosha.com/asanas/sarvanga.html
As you can see in the animation, this activates the thyroid region of the neck. It is best to learn this from an expert. Be very careful if you want to try on your own.
It is customary to follow this posture with Matsyasana (Fish pose), which is complementary to the other.

kelp is a good thyroid support
if you are always cold you may be anemic which is why your dr suggested you take prenatals..they are high in iron. Seems she is making certain all the bases are covered by checking your thyroid function.
Iodine should help so plenty of seafood or kelp tablets.
Another very good source of iodine is vegemite so a large tablespoon of vegemite every day would help or plenty of vegemite sandwiches. Vegemite is also very rich in vitamin B.
Make sure when you test for hypothyroidism that you test first thing in the morning. An afternoon test could throw things off and stop a diagnosis.
If you are hypothyroid and want something natural ask for Armour thyroid. It’s a medication, but its a natural medication. It’s the oldest thyroid medication and many find it superior to the lab made medications, myself included. Below are a few links on the subject.
Don’t mess with iodine yourself, as it could cause more problems. Get on thyroid medication and then if needed try iodine, but get advice from others who are hypothyroid and use it….don’t go it alone.
