Postnatal Depression or Baby Blues?
I had a baby nearly a month ago now and been getting little tell-tale signs I might have postnatal depression. I find it really hard getting up in the mornings, find it hard getting to sleep at night, keep getting angry and upset really easily (cried while feeding my little girl at 2am this morning because I just felt yuk) and just feel over-all bored and lonely, even though I’ve got a partner who lives with me. Is this all normal or is it cause for concern. I’m going out for a night out with my best mates next friday to let my hair down a bit while my daughter spends some time with her granny for a couple of nights so I’m hoping it will make me feel better as I’ve barely seen any of my friends the last few months…do you think it will help in the long run? Thanks for your help.

Postpartum depression is a nasty little bugger, and the faster you can diagnose it and treat it, the better for you, your baby, the people in your life, etc.
IMO- It seems it may just be a case of the baby blues. I know when I had postpartum depression I certainly didn’t feel like going out with the girls. But be sure not to ignore it. If after going out you still feel down give the doc a call. Best of luck and I hope you feel better!
My cousin had similar symptoms (felt yuck, didn’t change out of her pajamas, cried for unknown reasons) and it seems that you can be on the verge of postnatal depression, (like she was) but your not there yet. So I would definitely take a night out (as my cousin did too) and just enjoy yourself. And Im sure you will be back to your normal self. I think you just need some you time.
Hope I helped.
