Pregnancy is a time when you need to take good care of yourself. Research has proven beyond doubt that a woman who recieves good care is more likely to have a healthy baby. As soon you get to learn that you are pregnant, it is important that you get in touch with an experiened doctor and get to learn about receiving prenatal care.
As part of the prenatal care, your doctor will ask you to undergo several types of tests. You will be for example, asked to undergo a pelvic exam. The doctor will also order urine tests, blood tests and other tests for determining the presence of any sexually transmitted diseases too, which will include a test for HIV too. It is important that you get to learn about every aspect of pregnancy from your doctor. For example, you must get to know about the various emotional and physical changes that a pregnant lady needs to expect. You must also learn how to find out possible symptoms. This is important because a lot of woman sometimes tend to panic without knowing the exact reason behind a symptom.
With the insurance I have my options are limited for providers and alot of them in my area are not even taking new patients. I never thought I’d find myself in this position because I know how important pre-natal care is and why it is important. I am no longer comfortable with the provider that I have but it’s no fun calling around and being told that they are not taking new patients right now or do not take my coverage. My current provider is so bad that it is seriously going to cause me anxiety in wondering if my pregnancy is even important to them. I can’t continue to go there. I always thought that doctors who provided pregnancy care were a special breed of caring people. But, I guess I’m getting a dose of reality here. They do their blood draws on site and they stuck me 3 times and got one tube of blood. Then, they said it wasn’t enough and they would have to start all over another time. Then, one time – they seriously had no other clients and I had an appointment and waited ONE hour and they couldn’t tell me if or when they might see me. I had to walk out because I had to go to work! In fact, the first time I went in they said that they only like to treat younger women. Is this some bizarre form of discrimination? I have never felt they were happy to see me – I felt like a cow numbered for slaughter rather than a human being in need of care. Well, it’s a long story, but my previous providers -one is no longer an ob-gyn and the other moved to a practice in another state. I am avoiding providers from a certain hospital too because they stuck me 5 times while in heavy labor last time before getting the blood and I told them ahead of time that they had better go ahead and get the best person they have first and they didn’t listen or care! My provider didn’t show up to the hospital until it was over and I spent most of the labor alone. I say – no prenatal care and having no pre-planned delivery is better than these kinds of things! Maybe there is a website you can refer me to where I can punch in the insurance and the zip code and get a list? I suppose I have no choice than hideous care or continuing to make calls and switch.
Well, maybe I am being too picky, I am hormonal. No provider is going to be perfect – but I know I don’t want to go anywhere unless they have a competent phlebotomist. I know of one Quest lab where they don’t have any problem drawing my blood, but the current provider doesn’t allow you to get the testing done anywhere else or by anyone else. After giving her 3 tries – I’m not up to more of the pin cushion treatment. I don’t think that’s expecting to be treated like royalty – good phlebotomy is basic care and basic treatment.
Blocking abortion means Billions of tax dollars going to millions of unwanted pregnancies, prenatal care, hospital birthing, and then after birthing stays, post natal care, child health care, foster programs, orphanages, mothers and fathers welfare, child welfare, food stamps, night school for parents who dropped out, health care for those who attempted to abort at home, ect.
We will all have to pay more taxes to cover the rise in child abuse cases that come with unwanted children. We will all have to use our tax dollars to pay for anti depression, and anti stress, and many other things that come with either raising a kid you hate, or giving your baby to an orphanage.
this is my first pregnancy and the care ive received is very dissatisfying! i go to a major hospital in atlanta for my prenatal care that has been dubbed as a hospital for poor people! I only went there for my prenatal care because i went there as a child almost everyday with my mom(memories), i like to go downtown, and i was born there:) I have GREAT insurance and could have went anywhere for my prenatal care but my mindstate was different when i found out i was pregnant. I was strangely nonchalant and was debating abortion so a good hospital was the last thing on my mind. I even missed several early app due to depression and laziness and when i realized what i was doing i stopped all that and made the trips. Most of the women down there are on medicaid or no insurance at all and i think thats alot of reason why we are treated the way we are. They feel as if we have no choice but to do services at there facility and have to put up with RIDICULOUS wait times and MUCH more trust me!!!!! I had a choice, my insurance covers pregnancy 100% but I chose that hospital because of the history I have with it and now im completely disgusted with it! My midwife is just so nast to me, she has been making slick demeaning comments towards me from day one. For example, yesterday was the first day I brought my babies dad in the room with me and she had the audacity to say ” Im assuming this is the babies father” as if i brought some random guy down there in the hospital with me. I babysit and the little girl came with me to a few app already so when i brought her yesterday, i was ticked that the bitch had the nerve to ask “whose going to watch your daughter when you go into labor” when ive told her before that the little girl is NOT my child and what kind of question was that anyways???? If she was my daughter i do have family or she could simply come with me. She didnt acknowledge either the father of my child or the little girl. I hate that i didnt switch to another hospital im now 37 weeks so its kinda too late. Who can I report her to? I havent had a pelvic exam to check how far the baby is all she said was yea i think shes head down, she finally realized i have warts and told me it wont harm the baby and then disrespected my babies father implying that if ive only been with him then clearly they came from him when ive told her before, ive had those things for long over a yr. and a half! Sorry for it being so drawn out and long but i needed to vent!!!!
