get out of the house as much as possible. and surround yourself with friends and family so you don’t have time to think about things that would make you depressed.
I had post natal depression very badly after the birth of my son. I took all the advice, did everything that was suggested to help my state of mind. Nothing helped, nothing. Post natal depression is caused not only by the demands of a new baby and sleep deprivation, but the changes in your hormonal and chemical levels. Sometimes, they only way to kick start a recovery is to take a course of anti depressants. I did this when my son was almost 2 years old and wished I’d have started the medication a lot sooner. It would have saved me so much heartache at the time. So, talk to your Dr about the way you are feeling, if nothing else works for you then maybe you need medication to help you along.
get out and about, even just pushing ur buggy down the street or to the park, people will look at ur baby and stop for a chat, if they’re strangers why not offload how u feel a bit when they ask how u are. join mother and baby groups, take any offer of help or babysitting from family or friends even if u just stay home to have a bath or read a magazine. tell ur family/friends that u are finding it alot more challenging than u expected, let them empathise or sympathise with u. its good to talk. try and have one day to urself if possible, let ur partner mind baby so u can have lie in, get up, doss around, go shopping, visit a friend alone.
